MCC Golf Storms Back To Qualify For NJCAA Tournament
The #4 Meridian Community College golf team entered the final round of play needing a second place finish to qualify for the NJCAA National Golf Tournament. The Eagles trailed second place Itawamba by ten strokes entering the final round. The Eagles stormed back over the final round to finish in second place and qualify for the NJCAA Tournament.
 
The Eagles shot 28 over par 604 for the tournament. The Eagles shot a 7 over par 295 during the final round to secure the second place finish. The Eagles were led by Logan Meadows. Meadows finished tied for fourth after shooting 3 over par 147. With the fourth-place finish Meadows was named to the All-Region 23 team. Mitchell Fifer finished tied for seventh after shooting 6 over par 150. Presley Wade finished tied for 12th shooting 8 over par 152. Kade Pitts finished tied for 18th shooting 11 over par 155. Will Kidder finished things out for the Eagles finishing tied for 22nd shooting 14 over par 158.
 
“The guys showed a lot of heart today to come back from 10 shots back and get into the top 2 to qualify. We struggled during the first round and had to really grind out there today to jump the home team to qualify.” Said Head Coach Ronnie Key.
 
The Eagles will be back in action May 21-24 at the NJCAA Golf Tournament. The Eagles will play at Swan Lake Golf Course in Plymouth, Indiana.
