Lady Eagles Sweep Hinds

The Meridian Community College Lady Eagles Softball team continued their winning ways Wednesday with a pair of wins over Hinds Community College. The Lady Eagles went on the road to pick up the sweep. The Lady Eagles won game one 3-0 and picked up the win in game two 7-3. With the wins, the Lady Eagles have now won eight straight games.

The Lady Eagles picked up the win in game one behind the masterful pitching of Kaitlyn Parrish. Parrish threw a complete game shutout. She allowed three hits over seven innings while picking up five strikeouts and allowed no walks.

The Lady Eagles were held scoreless over the first three innings before getting on the board in the fourth. Aahliya Jones got things started with a walk, Tykirra Bouldin came in to pinch run for Jones. After advancing to second Bouldin came in to score the Lady Eagles first run of the day on a single from Jaelynn Palmer.
The Lady Eagles would add two more runs in the fifth to take a 3-0 lead. Taylor Perilloux singled to lead off the inning and came in to score the Lady Eagles second run of the day on a triple from Keirra Fair. Fair would come in to score the Lady Eagles third run of the day on a sacrifice bunt from Jackie Lahaie.

The Lady Eagles would hold on to the 3-0 lead for the remainder of the game to pick up the win. Fair led the Lady Eagles with two hits including a rbi triple.

The Lady Eagles fell behind early in game two and had the battle back. The Lady Eagles trailed 2-0 after two innings. They would battle back to take the 6-3 in the fourth inning. The Lady Eagles stretched that lead to 7-3 and picked up the win by that score.

Hayleigh Rogers took the win for the Lady Eagles. She allowed four hits and three runs over three innings, walking one. Parrish threw four innings in relief out of the bullpen. Parrish recorded the last 12 outs to earn the save for Meridian Community College.

With the sweep, the Lady Eagles improve to 11-5 overall and 4-0 in conference play. The Lady Eagles return home to Tommy McDonald Field Saturday, March 23 against Northeast Mississippi Community College. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 1:00.
