Bio
Angie was born into a dance family. Her Aunt is the owner of Carol Merrill Academy of Dance (CMA) which is where Angie has been teaching for twenty-one years. She began competitive dance and gymnastics at the age of five and competitive cheer at age fourteen. Angie was captain of her dance and cheer teams. Angie’s dance and cheer teams received national championship titles and her gymnastics team won two state championships. Angie was also an individual state champion in gymnastics. Along with all of these accomplishments, Angie took home the overall talent award for the 1993 Lauderdale County Junior Miss program.
Angie graduated magna cum laude from the University of Southern Mississippi with a bachelor of science degree in education. She is certified to teach dance through Dixie Dance Masters of America and Acrobatics Dance Teachers Association. Along with dance Angie taught elementary school. She worked at Casey Elementary in Jackson, Mississippi. Casey Elementary is a Whole Arts School which incorporates arts, including dance, into the classroom curriculum.
Angie currently teaches competitive and recreational dance and cheer classes at CMA. Her students range in age from two years to adult. Angie also travels to Livingston, Alabama to teach dance at the University Charter School. Angie prides herself on being a well rounded and versatile instructor. She has had a part in helping CMA’s competitive dance teams win numerous national championships and helping many of their students go on to dance after highschool.
In her spare time Angie enjoys spending as much time as possible with her husband Sean and their two children, Jacob and Ava. Jacob Partridge is a 2020 graduate from Lamar High School and played football for East Mississippi Community College. He is currently a junior at Mississippi State University. Ava is a 2022 graduate from Lamar High School. She is currently a sophomore at Mississippi State University where she is a 2nd year member of the Hail State Dance Team.
Angie loves getting to know her students and combines her passion for dance with her love for people. She looks forward to growing MCC’s dance team into a highly competitive program.
