Smith Named MACCC Player of the Week for Lady Eagles
MERIDIAN, Miss. – Meridian Community College sophomore forward Terica Smith has been named the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week after helping the Lady Eagles to a perfect 3-0 record last week.
The West Point, Miss., native was a force inside for MCC, leading the team to wins over No. 22 Coastal Alabama-North, Wallace Community College–Selma, and Delgado. Smith totaled 49 points across the three contests, averaging 16.3 points per game, while also adding 17 rebounds and two steals. She shot an impressive 64.3 percent from the field and 61.9 percent from the free-throw line, anchoring the Lady Eagles' offense and defense throughout the week.
"Terica had an incredible week," said MCC head coach Jocelyn McGilberry. "It's rewarding to see the hard work she put in during the offseason being recognized. She's been consistent, dominant in the paint, and a true leader for our team."
With Smith's strong play, the Lady Eagles improved to 4-0 on the young season. She added 11 more points in the team's most recent win over Mississippi Gulf Coast and will look to continue her momentum when the Lady Eagles host Lawson State on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. inside the Graham Gymnasium.
