Bio
Entering her 15th season as head coach of the Meridian Community College women's basketball program, Jocelyn McGilberry continues to build upon a legacy of success both on and off the court. Throughout her tenure at MCC, McGilberry has guided the Eagles to multiple postseason appearances while developing numerous All-MACCC performers and helping student-athletes continue their academic and athletic careers at the next level.
During the 2025-26 season, McGilberry led the Eagles to one of their most successful campaigns in recent years, finishing with a 24-6 overall record and an 11-3 mark in MACCC play. The Eagles earned a postseason berth and produced two All-MACCC selections, with Terica Smith earning First Team All-MACCC honors and Nataysia Willis being named to the Second Team.
Prior to arriving at Meridian Community College in 2012, McGilberry built an impressive coaching résumé with more than 20 years of NCAA Division I experience, including 17 seasons in the Southeastern Conference.
McGilberry served as an assistant coach at South Alabama and Florida before spending time as Associate Head Coach at Ole Miss and assistant coach at Mississippi State. During her collegiate coaching career, she helped guide programs to numerous postseason appearances, including NCAA Tournament and WNIT berths, while recruiting and developing some of the nation's top talent.
A native of Ellisville, Mississippi, McGilberry was a standout player at South Jones High School, where she earned All-State honors twice and was named Mississippi Player of the Year as a senior.
She continued her playing career at Auburn University, where she was a four-year letterwinner and co-captain of the Tigers' 1988-89 SEC Championship team. During her four seasons at Auburn, the Tigers compiled a remarkable 119-13 record and advanced to the NCAA Women's Basketball Championship Game twice. McGilberry was recognized as Auburn's "Unsung Heroine" in 1989 and received the NAACP Outstanding Achiever Award.
Following her collegiate career, McGilberry played professionally in Switzerland and Sweden from 1990-92, helping a Swedish club team compete in the 1992 European Cup.
Known for her passion for player development and commitment to student-athlete success, McGilberry continues to build a competitive culture within the MCC women's basketball program while preparing her players for success both on and off the court.
