Bio

Entering his 14th season as head coach of the Meridian Community College women's soccer program, Mike Smith continues to build upon a tradition of success for the Lady Eagles. During the 2025 season, Smith guided MCC to a postseason appearance while developing two of the conference's top players in Flo Rigby and Mira Storm. Rigby earned First Team All-MACCC honors, while Storm was selected to the Second Team All-MACCC.

A proud Meridian native and former Eagle student-athlete, Smith has spent nearly two decades helping grow the game and develop talent both on and off the field at Meridian Community College.

Smith began his coaching career at MCC in 2007 as an assistant coach for both the men's and women's soccer programs. He was promoted to head coach of the women's program in 2012 and has since built a culture centered on discipline, player development, academic achievement, and competitive excellence.

As a player, Smith starred at West Lauderdale High School, helping lead the Knights to a state championship in 2000. He continued his playing career at Meridian Community College, where he was a member of the Eagles' 2000 NJCAA National Championship team and competed again in 2001.

Smith later continued his collegiate career at Delta State University, where he played during the 2005 and 2006 seasons. As a senior, he earned All-Gulf South Conference honors while completing his bachelor's degree in Health and Physical Education.

Smith holds a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) B License and a United Soccer Coaches Advanced National Diploma. His coaching philosophy emphasizes strong fundamentals, leadership development, and preparing student-athletes for success at the next level both athletically and academically.

Coach Smith resides in Meridian with his wife, Emily, and their two children, Dawson and Harper.
