Lady Eagles Finish 13th at NJCAA Division II National Championship
SUMTER, S.C. — The Meridian Community College women's tennis team wrapped up its 2026 campaign this week at the NJCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championship held May 2-6 at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, South Carolina.
Competing against 21 Division II programs from across the country, the Lady Eagles finished 13th overall with 10.5 team points at the national tournament.
Before tournament play began, the Lady Eagles arrived Friday for registration, seeding meetings, and the championship banquet ahead of five days of competition.
Day One
Rain delayed tournament action several hours on Saturday, but the Lady Eagles made the most of their opportunities, going a perfect 3-0 in singles play to advance from the Round of 32 into the Round of 16.

Because of the weather delays from day one, the Lady Eagles competed in ten matches Sunday against several nationally ranked opponents.

With Kukuljan's consolation championship appearance concluding Wednesday, the Lady Eagles officially wrapped up their tournament run and season.
Head Coach Tavis Rieger praised his team for the way they represented Meridian Community College throughout the national tournament.
"They represented Meridian well on a national stage and they should be proud for all they've accomplished during their time at MCC," Rieger said.
During the championship week, the Lady Eagles were also recognized off the court, earning the ITA NJCAA Women's Tennis Region III Community Service Award.
