Pate Earns MACCC Defensive Player of the Week
MERIDIAN, Miss. – Meridian Community College sophomore Riley Pate has been named the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week.
The Kimberly, Ala., native anchored the Lady Eagles' defense in three challenging conference matches last week. Playing libero, Pate recorded 47 digs (4.27 per set), eight assists, and 75 receptions across 11 total sets. Her steady play and leadership in the back row helped MCC battle through a demanding stretch of MACCC competition.
Through the 2025 season to date, Pate has totaled 152 digs (3.23 per set), 284 receptions, 10 service aces, 29 assists, and 10 points across 47 sets played.
"Riley had an outstanding week, and I'm extremely proud of her for earning this recognition," said MCC head coach Alex Schimelpfening. "Volleyball is continuing to grow in Mississippi, and it's great to see our players being recognized at the conference level."
The Lady Eagles will look to notch their first conference victory when they host Jones College inside Graham Gymnasium Wednesday night. Tickets to all home matches can be purchased online at mcceagles.com/tickets for $8 or at the door for $10. Fans can also watch every home match live at mcceagles.live/green.
